Bulletin - Spring term 2
Croeso! Welcome!
Welcome to the Ysgol Cae'r Nant Bulletin for the second half of the Spring Term. We have been working very hard and having lots of fun. Our Year 3 & 4 classes performed ‘Caru Cymru’ a Welsh assembly for their parents. Our Year 5 pupils loved going to watch a performance of Matilda at CQHS. Our Year 2 pupils enjoyed a trip to Danger Point and they got to attend the ‘Size of Wales’ Workshops. Also a small choir sang welsh songs to celebrate St. David’s Day at the Independent Living Scheme.

Seren

Gwyn
Dosbarth Seren have been doing lots of gardening, tending to their planter and watering the daffodils. They have also been planting sunflower seeds for Mother's Day gifts. They have created artwork relating to the weather - this is thunder and lightning.
Dosbarth Gwyn have been busy making lovely playdough models for St David's Day. They have been Word Building and Sentence Building. They have explored "capacity" in maths with different sized containers and have done some practical subtraction (whilst eating fruit!)
Dosbarth Gwyrdd have been practising their culinary skills and made some delicious jam sandwiches. They made them so they could take them for their picnic on the planet Zum-Zee.
As part of their topic work Dosbarth Melyn have been learning about crops in different countries. They have also been writing instructions about planting seeds and then using these to help them plant their own seeds in class.
Dosbarth Glas have been helping a farmer called Dai Jones do some important jobs. He has given them some seeds to grow so they have made these fantastic scarecrows to protect them.
Dosbarth Coch made this incredible daffodil wind farm for their Consortium Eisteddfod entry. Each child made their own daffodil wind turbine to create this effective piece of art.

Brenig
Dosbarth Tegid have been working collaboratively to complete this 500 piece jigsaw, such a good team effort! They have also been using their problem solving skills to complete these Tangram puzzles. In maths they have been learning all about fractions and have enjoyed making their own fraction walls.
Dosbarth Brenig made some delicious bara brith to celebrate St. David’s Day. They carefully weighed out and mixed all of the ingredients. Once it was ready they sold it to parents and made an amazing £35!
Dosbarth Alwen have been very creative and have designed some lovely posters to promote our school Easter Bingo event. They have also been using their problem solving skills to complete these fraction word problems.
Dosbarth Celyn learnt the lovely Daffodil poem by William Wordsworth to celebrate St. David’s Day. They have also had the chance to create their own fact file about a topic that interests them, a child created this one all about footballer Marcus Rashford. In Cymraeg they have been practising how to ask people if they want something.
Dosbarth Padarn have created a storyboard as part of their mantel work. Their storyboards are for adverts they are making to encourage tourism to their island. They have already started filming using the green screen to add in their different scenes.
Dosbarth Berwyn spent an entire day playing a variety of different sports. They got to try American football, cricket, basketball and handball. Here you can see some children doing a play in American football. Berwyn have also been working with microbits this half term. They have coded microbits to send morse code messages, count steps and play rock, paper, scissors against another microbit.
Berwyn also used the work they have been doing on ratio to create and mix their own mocktails.
Dosbarth Gwynant have been busy with their Mantel work. They have been learning about plant adaptations in the Rainforest and how they have adapted to the environment in a Rainforest. They have also created interesting fact files based on plants that grow in the rainforest and drawn some beautiful pictures to go with them.
